Joel became Diplomat’s president in August 2017. Working closely with operational, clinical, and sales staff, he helps execute Diplomat’s strategy while emphasizing quality and innovation for patients and partners.
Before joining Diplomat, Joel held multiple leadership positions in healthcare. He served Catamaran Corporation as executive vice president of pharmacy operations from June 2010 to January 2016. He oversaw approximately 3,200 employees, as well as contracting and vendor relations. Previously, Joel had served since 1997 as senior vice president of industry relations at what is now CVS Health. There, he directed contracting, financial analysis, strategic business development, and opportunity evaluation. Before his time at CVS, he was director of medical and scientific affairs for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Joel is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Joel received his master’s degree in pharmacology and molecular biology from the Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
