FLINT, Mich. — Jan. 30, 2014 — Diplomat, the nation’s largest independent specialty pharmacy has announced that it will be partnering with The Whiting, Flint’s premier performing arts venue. The partnership will bring new entertainment opportunities to the area through the Gen X Concert Series. Performers featured will be targeted to “Generation X” – or those born in the early 1960s through the early 1980s.

In addition to the concert series, the partnership will also bring entertainment to Diplomat’s corporate headquarters. The Whiting will present local performers during select lunch periods for employees to enjoy.

“I believe this series will help us diversify the entertainment offerings for our community as well as draw individuals from the surrounding communities,” said Phil Hagerman, Diplomat CEO. “I am also pleased to provide the opportunity to expand the cultural offerings for our employees. The arts play an undeniable role in our health and wellness.”

The partnership is another way for Diplomat to continue its commitment to the Flint area and to its employees. Two concerts are planned for 2014 with an additional two concerts slated for 2015, depending on artist availability. Schedule and ticket information will be made available through The Whiting.

The Whiting’s executive director, Jarret M. Haynes, stated, “We are very excited by this partnership and thank Diplomat for their enlightened and meaningful support. The launching of this new series reflects our continuing deep commitment to providing engaging and high-quality performing arts presentations for our community.”

Diplomat is proud to be a part of the Flint community and thrilled to add this partnership to their community relations efforts. Among the many initiatives Diplomat supports is their own Helping Hands Foundation, which raises funds to assist patients with high prescription co-payments. Diplomat also partners with local organizations such as NEW Life Enterprises, an out-reach ministry supporting local women with job training and education. Employees are encouraged to be active volunteers in the Flint area and help make their community a better place.
