FLINT, Mich.— Sept. 16, 2014 — Diplomat, the nation’s largest independent specialty pharmacy, has announced the inaugural Hero 5k, a road race to be held on Thursday, Sept.18, 2014. The race is part of a slate of activities surrounding The Hero Round Table conference, an annual cross-disciplinary conference on heroism in today’s world.

The race is free of charge for all registrants and will feature Christopher McDougall, author of national bestseller Born to Run, and Curt Munson, owner of Playmakers running store.

Hero 5k schedule:

5– 6 p.m. – Perfect Form Workshop with Curt Munson
6– 7 p.m. – 5k run with Christopher McDougall
6:30 – 7 p.m. – Perfect Form Workshop with Curt Munson
7 – 7:30 p.m. – Christopher McDougall: Heroic Stories from Born to Run

The race route will take participants through Flint’s historic Civic Park neighborhood, which just received $2.6 million dollars in revitalization assistance from the State of Michigan’s Hardest Hit grant. Established nearly 100 years ago by General Motors, the Civic Park neighborhood is an important part of Flint’s history.
